Stouffer played at Colorado State University from 1984 to 1986, racking up 7,142 career passing yards and 36 touchdowns from completing 577 out of 1015 attempts, despite amassing -476 rushing yards from scrimmage. A quarterback with above-average smarts and holding a Wonderlic test score of 27, Stouffer was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals with the sixth overall pick.
